Laughs with a side of jollof

Introducing the Suya Laffs Open Mic
One of the newest comedy rooms I’m helping build is an open mic happening inside a Nigerian restaurant (Suya Royale, 824 Somerset Street West). An open mic is where comedians test material, sharpen their timing, and practice their performances. On Friday March 13, we did a soft launch of a clean-comedy open mic: comedy for all audiences — punchlines with a side of the BEST Jollof in the city.
A snowstorm complicated the first release, but we’ll be back in April with a more standard open mic (for mature audiences next time).
If you’re a comedian (or know some), keep an eye out for sign-ups. If you’re an audience member, come hungry — for jokes and for excellent West African food. Support live comedy and local business.
