Since 2022, I’ve been creating the kinds of shows I’ve always wanted to perform in or watch. In 2024, In the Black and RECLAIMED! earned my first grants, which helped me pay performers fairly and highlight stories and voices that often go unheard. Both shows were held in 2025 and both shows sold out.

The projects I work on — these Dawn Xanklin Productions — develop comedy, storytelling, and digital experiences that uplift diverse voices and build connection. It’s about creating spaces where people feel seen, included, and celebrated.

    In the Black

    In the Black is a stand-up comedy show that centres what it’s like to be Black in Canada. Bold, smart, and rooted in performer experiences, In the Black focuses on emerging and Black-identifying comedians from across the country. Each edition highlights different places or themes, showcasing diverse voices.

  • RECLAIMED!

    RECLAIMED! is a funny storytelling show. It brings together storytellers who have connections to places that were once colonized. Through humour, truth, and community responses to an open call, the show gives a space to stories about what we inherit and what we might reimagine.
